The AAOL (Australian Amateur Overwatch Ladder) is OCE's largest independent tournament for amateurs. Catering to hundreds of active players, the AAOL provides anyone with the opportunities for Competitive Overwatch play. Players of any SR, Bronze to Grandmaster, can all sign up to play in the AAOL. It is for people who just want to play some fun, organised esports in a team environment.
Players may signup in pre-made teams of a minimum of 5 players, and a maximum of 7 players. All players must be on the primary AOEsports to appear in the signup form.
Teams with University backing and support may opt-in to join the University Divisions. University Divisions are special AAOL divisions made up of purely University Teams. They're designed to give University teams a more rival-centric space.
Are you a University backed team? Check our rulebook to see if you qualify as a University Team. If you have any questions, please send AOE Mod Mail a DM on our Discord.
Below are the list of Rule Changes for Season 4.
Reads:
Any reference to “SR” (or “Skill Rating”), is referring to a Player’s competitive rank (or “Skill Division”), converted to an easily digestible number. You may find our conversions on the AOEsports Discord, in the “aaol-rank-conversions” channel.
Reads:
4.7. A team's average SR will be calculated from the highest 5 ranks on a team.
(On a team of 5 players, this rule addition does nothing. On teams with more than 5 players, the teams' average rank will be calculated based on the top 5 players' ranks' primary roles. This ruling makes more sense with the following change)
Previously read:
The difference between the highest ranking player on a team (on their primary role) and the lowest ranking player on a team (on their primary role) cannot exceed 1200 SR (after conversion from SD to SR)
Will now read:
The difference between the highest ranking player on a team (on their primary role) and the 5th highest ranking player on a team (on their primary role) cannot exceed 1200 SR (after conversion from SD to SR).
(ie; on a team of 5 players, it is the difference between the lowest and the highest player. On a team with more than 5 players, we’re only taking into account the top 5 ranked players.)
We heard feedback regarding the ruling last season stopping some teams from playing together, but if this rule change was in effect they could've played as a 7-stack. The rule change is designed to allow more teams to play with their friends, while also letting us place them properly within divisions.
